I kinda sorta adore Julian on OTH... lol... he's adorable in the scene at the beginning of tonight's ep with Sam and Brooke and I think I may love... Brulian? whatever the couple name is, Brooke/Julian may be my new favorite couple that is at least kinda canon... lol...
On a related topic, I kinda want to write a fic taking place about in the present of OTH, but instead of Julian kinda sliding right into place as part of the Brooke&Sam family, Ryan Atwood does... because I have this image of Brooke doubting her parenting, and Ryan reassures her...
"All she needs is to know that someone gives a damn what she does and where she is," Ryan said.
"I suck at being a role model," Brooke protested.
"You love her, and she knows you love her," Ryan whispered. "Trust me, that's the thing that's msot important. That's the saving grace. Know that someone, somewhere, loves you and would do anything to protect you."
"How do I be that someone?" Brooke asked.
"Keep doing what you're doing," Ryan said.
"This guy's pretty smart."
Brooke looked up to see Sam standing in the doorway. "When did you get home?" she asked. "And how long after curfew was it?" she added a moment later.
"And she thinks she sucks at the parent thing?" Sam asked Ryan, who laughed.
"I don't get it either, kid," Ryan agreed.
And between Brooke and Ryan, Sam winds up with two 'parents' who get her, though in different ways, both of whom will totally kick ass for her... and Brooke is reluctant to get involved, since Ryan's been her friend for years in New York, and Ryan doesn't want to ruin he and Brooke's friendship since, hello, all of his relationships go horribly wrong no matter how had he tries... and Sam ahs to plot to get them together because she knows they belong together, so of course she enlists Jamie's help...
"We're good," Jamie said from where he was sitting beside Sam.
"We're not good, we are amazing," Sam corrected, bumping fists with him.
As the two watched, Ryan used a towel to gently wipe the food off of Brooke's face, then picked a strand of spaghetti out of her hair. "Food is not a good look," Brooke said, swiping some sauce off of Ryan's chin.
"What, you don't think I look good with Alfredo sauce all over my chest?" Ryan replied, looking down at his ruined shirt. "How is it that Lucas is a best selling author, Peyton is a record producer, Nathan is a basketball star, and Haley is a rock star, I own an art gallery, and you are a famous fashion designer, but... it's Sam and Jamie who didn't get in a food fight?"
Brooke tried to keep a straight face, wound up bursting into laughter. "Because they are the real grownups?" she suggested.
"Seems like it," Ryan said, galcnign over at the smug pair. Then he leaned in to whisper in her ear. "But every kid needs to get in the middle of a food fight, especially if it's grown up approved," he said, pulling bakc with a grin and glancing over towards the can of whipper cream.
Brooke grinned, waiting until Sam and Jamie glanced away, then grabbing the cans, passing one to Ryan and keeping the other for herself. They slowly walked over to the kids. "We jsut noticed something," she said when they glanced up.
"What?" Sam asked, supsicious.
"You two," Ryan began. "Are way too clean."
Sam realized at the last second and jumped off the couch, moving to hide behind Jamie as Ryan and brooke attacked, sending the whipped cream flying all over as the living room filled with the sounds of laughter.
Brooke always, in my fics at least, brings out Ryan's fun side, and I think he'd especially have one when he was around Brooke AND kids... in an odd way, I think extra especially around Sam because he'd want to give her that fun/happy/secure feeling that he got when the Cohens were being completely insane in a fun away (Yogalattes anyone?)...
Anyway... yeah... Ryan, Brooke, and Sam would make an awesomest family... lol...
