Okay, so, I have this fic that's currently jsut being called 'Apocalypse' for lack of a better name. It's The OC, and it's so damn angsty and horror-movie-ish... lol... takes place sometime in Season 1.
I think this could easily qualify as Crack!Fic, especially since I'm sure people are out of character, but... I'm an end of the world junkie and I couldn't resist writing it and I'm trying to decide whether to post any of it or not... I have 6 chapters completed, although admittedly there's some injury/medical stuff in parts 4 and beyond that I need to do a bit of research on to make sure it's not TOO inaccurate... lol...
The plot is this:
A killer virus sweeps across the world. People die. While some of the adults are alive, for plot reasons none of the living ones are in Newport... lol... But the teens have been told by Kirsten, the last time she managed to get a call through before the phones went dead, that they should go to the Nichols family lodge. So Ryan ends up leading this group of teens north and into the mountains, and he's a damn good leader... until he totally gets his ass kicked by some survivors gone crazy... lol...
To summarize some highlights: Ryan keeps a handgun on his belt... Summer goes all Doctor on their asses... Alex is totally kick ass with a rifle... Luke is protective and, oddly enough, sensitive... Kaitlin is scared but looks up at Ryan adoringly because she trusts him... Oh!
There's post-apocalypse teen angst... There's dead Coopers (Marissa died a gruesome death choking on her own blood...lol)... There's poor dead, but not of the virus, Seth... There are people who've gone crazy and started acting all zombified and eating flesh... One of our intrepid group of heroes becomes a snack...
It's completely out there, but... for some reason... I love it! lol... maybe because, while there's some emotional stuff, it's more all about the action, as oppossed to Another Day which is so totally about the emotions... Apocalypse is like a simple break, where characterization isn't as important and it's just good old fashioned fun... at the expense of causing the characters severe trauma (both physical in the sense of injuries, and psychological because watching some crazy eat a piece of your friend's flesh is totally traumatizing... lol... as is getting completed covered in their blood)...
Anyway... if anyone who reads my The OC fics wants to read it, I'll post it... might post anyway when I finish Another Day, but AD will probably last for a LONG time because I don't do short fics... lol... the Broken Quartet was an exception ebcause it was in response to a challenge...
